The 2005 Grand Challenge course will involve 175 miles of rugged terrain in the California/Nevada desert. The general location will be announced as the Oct 8, 2005 event nears, and the exact course waypoints will be released just 2 hours prior to the race.

The 1st Grand Challenge was held on March 13, 2004 on a 143 mile course across the Mojave desert. The course featured some of the most rugged terrain in Southern California.
